Submissions
Sokoka Books invites writers to submit their manuscripts for consideration.
Please note the following guidelines:
- One submission per writer: We accept only one submission per writer. Multiple submissions may result in disqualification.
- African identity and romance genre: For 2025, we're particularly interested in stories that showcase African identity, taste, and storytelling. Romance genre submissions are highly encouraged.
- Synopsis and manuscript sample: Please attach the following documents in Microsoft Word format:
- A one-page synopsis, including all major plot points, spoilers, and the ending.
- A sample of your work, consisting of the first 3 chapters or first 3 stories of your manuscript.
- Formatting requirements: Ensure your manuscript sample meets the following formatting criteria:
- Double-spaced, indented paragraphs
- Justified text
- Times New Roman font, 12pt size
- Submission process: Fill the submission form by click in on the “submit manuscript“ below. Our editors will review your submission, and we will respond if we're provisionally interested in publishing your work.
- Response timeline: Due to the high volume of submissions, we may not be able to respond immediately. If selected, we'll request additional material and present a publishing offer if your work meets our standards.
- Accepted genres: For 2025, Sokoka Books is accepting submissions in the following genres:
- Poetry manuscripts
- Children's stories
- Prose
